To celebrate the launch of Billie Eilish’s newest album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft”, our friends at AKJohnston Group enlisted Paladin’s design services for a total store takeover at Hot Topic in Los Angeles at the Ovation mall. We were honored to curate an exclusive weekend pop-up complete with Billie Eilish merchandise, exclusive vinyls and multiple photo moments.

After a 3-year album hiatus to work on original songs for films like, “No Time to Die” and “Barbie”, Billie wanted to launch her newest album with a massive bang. For the May 17, 2024 release - Billie hosted a party at The Forum in Los Angeles, a party in New York with American Express, and a second party in Los Angeles with Hot Topic. To meet the needs of AKJ and Hot Topic, we covered every wall possible in album-approved artwork, phrases from the lyrics, and featured a major photo-op where guests could float in the water like Billie herself.
The 3-day event opened at midnight on Friday, May 17 with a line out the door and around the corner. From Friday through Sunday at Hot Topic at Ovation, that line of guests almost never dropped, and Hot Topic saw a nearly 300% increase in sales that weekend. To cap off the event, on Saturday, May 18 Billie Eilish surprised the store, the fans, and even our production team, with a 1-hour meet and greet.
